The village board and Police Chief Diana Nicols today agreed she will receive a 10-day suspension without pay, effective immediately, according to a statement from Mayor Joe Booan.
The agreement resolved and settles charges the trustees brought against the chief earlier this month without proceeding to a Section 75 hearing, which would have included an independent hearing officer to address the charges, the statement said.
“It is the expectation that all village employees, consultants, part-time employees, officials and volunteers carry out their job responsibilities in a professional, consistent, and civil manner,” the mayor said regarding the resolution.
“…I consider the matter resolved,” he continued. ” It is my hope that we may now move forward … I believe that the Chief of Police clearly understands my expectations. I look forward to working with the Chief of Police on all matters of Public Safety.”
